The Leprechaun Hunt!!

Today we went on a chase to find a Leprechaun! A Leprechaun left us clues that sent us on a hunt around Chets Creek with Mrs. Matthews!
AND the final clue lead us back to our classroom where we were surprised to find...
That a leprechaun had been to our classroom!!

He was a friendly Leprechaun that brought us a yummy St. Patrick's Day treat!!

He did leave us a little present in our restroom though!

Silly leprechaun! Maybe we with catch him next year!

Garden Update

We have been watering our plants everyday! Today when we went to visit our garden and we saw a sprout!! We were SO EXCITED!!! Our garden is growing!!!

Look who's talking!

We have been talking about Kevin Henkes and his books.  Today we talked about some of the characters using accountable talk.  We know the standards ask us to describe characters and to use the illustrations and details in the story to help describe the characters and to also compare and contrast the experiences of the characters. The standard also ask us to participate in collaborative conversations. Collaborative  conversations help us to think more deeply about the text.

Seed Journals

We have started using Seed Journals with our Authors As Mentors writing unit! Our writers are taking off with new topics and observations from home, school and out and about.

This morning we came across a few of our first grade writers in the hall before school jotting down an observation in their sees journal! We can't wait to read theses stories!!

Today's lesson is focused on getting our writers to zoom in on a small moment! We want them to choose a small story from their seeds and write it BIG! Explode the small moment and wrote lots of details!
