A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!

What a fun filled day we have had today! It has been a Charlie Brown kind of day!

Each child dressed up as his/her favorite Charlie Brown Character:

Charlie Brown:
Schroeder:
Snoopy:
Linus:
Lucy:

Fifi:
Pigpen:
Sally:
Woodstock:

We then decorated for our party!

Each student brought in their special blankey in true Linus form and we watched a Charlie Brown Thanksgiving!

We then had our Charlie Brown feast including toast, gummy bears, pretzels, and popcorn!

We read books and talked greatly about being thankful! Our kiddos were given the opportunity to write about what they were thankful for and why! We hope you cherish these special pieces of writing for years to come!

It was a wonderful day!!

Really???

Our book of he month for November is Gingerbread for Liberty by Mara Rockcliff. This book reminds students that each and every person is important and has their own important role to play in the world.

We completed a  REALLY? chart in our class together. As the students listen to the nonfiction texts we stopped and wrote down things that were interesting or surprised them from the reading. We also asked them why they felt that way. In the third column of the chart we went a little further and made a logical inference about what this information suggests. We want our readers to use text evidence in their answer and all their reading! This REALLY?? chart was a lot of fun for our class and we can't wait to use it again!!

Popping Good Behavior!

Students that filled his or her popcorn buckets over the past month were invited to a special lunch and movie with Mrs. Svrcek and Mrs. Witt!!

We are so proud of our kiddos! They have worked so hard! There are a number of ways to earn pieces of popcorn such as being on task, working hard during independent work time, being kind to a friend, etc.

We can't wait to see who will fill their buckets next month!

Happy Fall!

Happy Fall!
We started our day off with the Chets Creek literacy parade! Our class paraded around the school dressed up as a character from one of our favorite book. The upper classes and many parents cheered us on and gave lots of high fives as we walked by! Thank You for your support for our love of reading!

After the parade we continued the fall fun with some special projects in our classroom! What a fun time our class had making crafts and creating a cupcake to celebrate fall! We couldn't have done this without all our amazing parents! Thank You for all your help and support!
